Nico,

I updated the configure script for gdal-1.4 branch in SVN several
days ago, so hopefully grabbing a new nightly snapshot of the svn
stable branch should have the updated files.

The autogen and aclocal commands are used to generated configure and
are often not installed on non-development systems.
