[Gdal-dev] Beginners question. How to fetch longtitude, latitude coordinates

Hello all.

Can someone provide an example of the configuration
required to fetch data from mysql tables of longtitude, latitude
coordinates?

I need to display those data with MapServer.
There is one table which contains information of the locations
(name and other attributes) and a related table with the longtitude
and latitude coordinates.

It would be usefull if the example contained info on how the connection
string is defined.
