[gdal-dev] MSYS, MingW and GDAL

Sam,

This may come very late, but I believe that this is a known problem. The 
cure is to edit the GNUmakefile a bit as described on the top of this page:

http://trac.osgeo.org/gdal/wiki/BuildingWithMinGW

Perhaps the page should be edited a bit to explain more.
