Hi Yvonne,

I've just done exactly what you refer to, and had the same challenges
with links. I ended up using the following setup:

Python 2.6 install:
http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.6/python-2.6.msi

GDAL bindings for Python 2.6:
http://pypi.python.org/packages/2.6/G/GDAL/GDAL-1.6.1.win32-py2.6.exe#md5=5e48c85a9ace1baad77dc26bb42ab4e1

GDAL
http://download.osgeo.org/gdal/win32/1.6/gdalwin32exe160.zip

I'm afraid I don't know about 64 bit versions since it's not relevant to
me, but I seem to remember there being some 64 bit options for some of
the packages.

HTH,
Rudi
