thank you for answering my question very quickly,. I spent much time to get
it to work. I managed to build the solution. I also got a
gdal_ECW_JP2ECW.dll with gdal17.dll. 
the ext question will be, how can I include ecw plugin in gdal17 ?
i tried with defining a GDAL_DRIVER_PATH environment variable linking
to the location where you have built gdal_ECW_JP2ECW.DLL. but with out luck.
du you know how to do it on windows platform.
