I've just added support for .avl / .adc in GDAL trunk, lightly tested from the 
samples you've provided. Feedback appreciated. Binary should be available 
download from http://vbkto.dyndns.org/sdk/ daily builds . See the -development 
packages in the first lines of the first table.
