The extent of the hdf file(s) is different than the rectangular extent 
you ordered. You have to run gdalinfo on each hdf file to get the 
information.

Look out for something like:

   geospatial_lat_max=24.78230858
   geospatial_lat_min=5.343300343
   geospatial_lat_units=degrees_north
   geospatial_lon_max=139.3295746
   geospatial_lon_min=126.3987579
   geospatial_lon_units=degrees_east
