<P><FONT SIZE=2>That sucks. I have hundreds of images on disk and would like to just have the xml file for each file so that I can just do fast "greps" for specfic tags.<BR>
What is the reason behind this design choice? Also are any of the gdalinfo calls quick?<BR>

For gdalinfo to create .aux.xml files, you just need to force it to compute<BR>
some metadata not stored in the file.<BR>
