Have you considered to ask this question from gis.stackexcange? As a<br>
platform it suits better for a question like this that has many alternative<br>
and perhaps opinion based answers. It allows also an easier way for you to<br>
improve your question that in its current state would probably be closed in<br>
gis.stackexchange as "too broad" or "unclear what you're asking", or perhaps<br>
"primarily opinion-based".<br>

Could you explain what you mean with padding, and if you would rather use<br>
some GDAL program or for example Python?<br>
