    This is not a bug. This is intended. Subdatasets have a specific
    syntax. Valid subdataset names are the ones reported under the
    SUBDATASET metadata domain.<br>

            usually-reliable ability to recognize file types and load
            anything without such hints, so having to provide that as
            well will be undesirable.</div>

    This is generally true for the first level of access to a file, but
    once you want a specific part (name it "variable", etc), you have to
    comply with the nomenclature of each driver.<br>
