<p>I don't recall a conscious choice to change the behavior
regarding the presence of "type":"Feature", but I would say the
3.7 behavior was more an accident than really intended (at least
no regression test caught it). I can't think of a workaround but
modifying the input file to be conformant with the GeoJSON spec.</p>
