Metadata/Cataloguing notes

dear all,

There is so much to process after FOSS4G; I'm excited about the
getting the licensing developments set out in a consumable way; and
there's been much more interest in the geodata repository project than
OSGeo is geared up to handle yet - I want to spend some time
developing a DIY blueprint for an open source/open standards oriented
geodata library service. There's a lot of this inherent in what FAO
GeoNetwork are distributing on CD on top of their metadata core, and
I'm excited about their imminent entry into the software incubation
process; and hope it should be easy to hook our metadata model +
simple interfaces up to their standards-oriented publishing and
discovery frontend.

- my notes from the BOF session on Thursday about Geodata Metadata
Models and Catalog/Discovery Services

http://space.frot.org/talks/2006/have_a_nice_metadata.odp.gz - slides
from my talk in which i tried to summarise my view on the issues. The
slides are a bit abstract - crschmidt has a 6x6 rule - 6 words per
line, six line per slides; i have more of a six words per slide rule.
I would like to write this up a bit more and I look forward to working
on annealing the core model and on bits of lighter weight OGC web services
interface libraries.

The slides just show the initial draft model with thinkos included and
i should do some work re-synchronising the postgres schema with the
wiki description and the RDF graph model.

cheers,

jo
