<div><span style="font-size:14px; color:rgb(0,0,0); font-family:Calibri,Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif">Los datos espaciales también se conocen como datos geoespaciales o información geográfica. Según la Asociación para la Infraestructura Global de Datos Espaciales
(2012 p. 5-9), los datos espaciales se refieren al tamaño, área o posición de cualquier ubicación, evento o fenómeno; los datos geoespaciales identifican la ubicación geográfica y las características de los rasgos naturales o construidos así como los límites,
en la Tierra [Orden Ejecutiva 12906 del FGDC]; y la información geográfica es aquella sobre los fenómenos asociados implícita o explícitamente con una ubicación relativa a la Tierra [ISO 19101]. En esta encuesta, los datos espaciales también se denominan como
datos geográficos o información geográfica. Los datos espaciales oficiales, son los producidos por las agencias gubernamentales de acuerdo con sus objetivos misionales. </span></div>
