Hi Pradeep,

Good to hear you are getting good response for reviewers panel and Scientific Committee.

Yes, good to reconnect after long time. If i remember correctly , we exchanged emails sometime in 2002? (you were doing research in Stuttgart then and i was doing my PhD in Wales). I have strong emotional connections with Trivandrum as my whole childhood memories are there . I regularly visit my father's village (40 kms from Trivandrum) , so next time, i am there maybe we can arrange to meet.

btw Thinking about open innovation, me and my friends even made our first cricket bat from a coconut tree branch[ "madal" in Malayalam :) ] It is so fun thinking back and it was there i learned how to create amazing things from nothing :) and Geo4All is also build up starting from nothing!

Best wishes,

Suchith

Dear Prof Behr, Nikos, Suchith,

Good work, the message is spreading and we have requests for participation in the scientific committee and panel of reviewers coming in.

Suchith: Thanks for the good wishes on the FOSS lab (future ICA-OSGeo-ISPRS lab) in the Dept of Geology, University of Kerala. We have exchanged emails way back in 2000 or 2001, immediately after you left IIT Madras to Nottingham, I believe. Venkatesh Raghavan is a frequent visitor to Trivandrum, still maintaining contacts with his erstwhile colleagues in CESS, Trivandrum. I will get in touch with him.

Best regards

Pradeep

Dear Franz-Josef, Pradeep,

Thanks for your efforts for organising the Academic / Scientific Track of the FOSS4G conference, Bonn . The Academic Track for FOSS4G has now expanded (thanks to efforts of you and Barend) and now well established. We will send this CfP through various channels and i am sure there will be strong participation. I also request colleagues to volunteer for the Scientific Committee to please inform the AT Chairs asap .

Pradeep - thanks for working to establish ICA-OSGeo-ISPRS lab in Kerala University which will be the first OSGeo lab in Kerala. I am from Kerala and I did my Pre-degree in Kerala University, so it is good to hear this. Venka and Thuy Vu (our Asia chairs) will be pleased to provide any guidance you need.

Best wishes,

Suchith

Subject: [Ica-osgeo-labs] [FOSS4G 2016] Invitation to become member of the Scientific Committee and for review
Dear colleagues,

this year I am (co-) chairing again the Academic / Scientific Track of the FOSS4G conference [1]. While Barend is contributing this time as member of the Scientific Committee I am collaborating with Pradeep from Kerala University with whom I already organized several scientific events before. Pradeep is also on the way of establishing a Ica-osgeo-lab at Kerala University in 2016.

For the Academic / Scientific Track of FOSS4G 2016, being held in in Bonn, Germany (24 -- 26 Aug), we are looking for colleagues to set up a Scientific Committee (SC) coupled with the local Programme Committee.

Our SC will steer the course of the conference, and will decide on the tracks, the lead speakers, the sessions, the chairs, and of course the presentations that will be made. In addition recommendations for further publication of selected papers in TGIS, IJC, or OSGeo Journal can be given.

The deadline for paper submission is March 21th 2016. Hence our main work will start afterwards.

And, of course, we need support regarding the dissemination of the Call for Papers [2]. I attach the CfP document for further distribution.

Please send your expression of interest to participate in the SC and/or reviewers panel to Pradeep and me using this email address:

academictrack at foss4g2016.org<mailto:academictrack at foss4g2016.org>

My hope is that we can move together the idea of Openess in Geospatial IT, data, education, and standards significantly forward by intensified integration of academia in the context of FOSS4G.

Best regards - Franz-Josef
