Hello Suchith,

I see this thought-provoking conference as an opportunity to call OSM's
attention to a huge but ignored market gap: the answer to the question
"where?".

In Deqing, authorities from Mongolia and Tonga will evangelize The Science
of Where with proprietary location codes based on names (Chinese ??). Newly,
UBER launched H3 as the solution, Cape Verde Post adopted OpenLocationCode.

Instead of a Location Standard, we have a Location War. And nobody seems to
care about the really needs of the market or of the consumer.

As you know, I'm proposing to OSM a cooperation based on a mix between a lot
of open elements and the merit principle with symbolical fees for greater
applications like Tokyo Metro www.volksnav.de/TokyoMetro . This is not a
contradiction.

Until now, OSM thought-impeding contributors have effectuated that thousands
of students etc. even don't know that it is possible to divide the horizon
into 12 directions or to implement a simple circle
www.volksnav.de/r100Shanghai without having to pay fees. For the most
consumers, the State of the Map continue being www.volksnav.de/YouAreHere .

I'd appreciate if you'd would suppress for a while the BlackOrWhite thinking
and would support an objective discussion about my proposal. Thank you in
advance.

Henrique

World's first congress with smart orientation: UNWGIC 2018 ?

Dear Greg,

acc. to the annex, average people degenerated to right/left idiots - and
sometimes confuse these directions. The orientation methods of your congress
contribute to this: names, illogical numbers and "here" on maps.

Worse than that, ESRI promotes location codes with 3 names - and call this
The Science of Where. This is not smart but proves the existence of a huge
but ignored market gap:

- nonacademic location codes

I'm a German-Brazilian inventor and I've developed an orientation system
based on imaginary clocks. Among 25 (!) benefits, it gives better answers to
the simple question "where?" than the alternatives
<http://www.volksnav.de/alternatives> www.volksnav.de/alternatives , also
for crossings, stations, stop points, bridges, tunnels, buildings, rooms,
emergency exits etc.

On a. m. links you'll find my urban concepts for UNWGIC2018. To be able to
define logical room numbers, please be so kind to send me top views of the
buildings.

Herewith I suggest an unique experiment for a better world for the consumer:

- invite your attendees using ALL alternatives: lat/lon, w3w,
OpenlocationCode, mapCode, UBER H3, Munich Orientation Convention etc. and
make a simple survey: which method would they prefer to avoid degeneration?

Thank you in advance and inventors friendly regards

Munich Orientation Convention

======================

As described e. g. on Navipedia of the European Space Agency ESA
<http://www.navipedia.org/index.php/Step_By_Step_Navigation>
www.navipedia.org/index.php/Step_By_Step_Navigation, I've developed a
natural orientation system which can simplify and harmonize all orientation
means including postal codes and room numbers. The system makes smarter,
sharpens the orientation sense, helps to minimize signage, panic and
accidents and to create jobs and innovative income sources.

With special location codes and pictograms, anyone would be able to GUIDE
HIMSELF around an indoor/urban/global pole as elegantly as in Rio de Janeiro
around the Christ statue:

- inwards/outwards

and

- clockwise/counter clockwise

and this in harmony with codes for crossings
<http://www.volksnav.de/lollipop> www.volksnav.de/lollipop, stations
<http://www.volksnav.de/TokyoMetro> www.volksnav.de/TokyoMetro, stop points,
bridges etc. and in harmony with imagination, signage, cartography
<http://www.volksnav.de/MagicGrid> www.volksnav.de/MagicGrid, online
applications <http://www.volksnav.de/search> www.volksnav.de/search, mobile
applications like a. m. app for the blind, children etc.

I've demonstrated e. g. during the 10th plenary of the UN Geographical
Information Working Group that the actual system has fundamental weak
points, please see

 <http://www.volksnav.com/misery> www.volksnav.com/misery

 <http://www.volksnav.com/YouAreHere> www.volksnav.com/YouAreHere

 <http://www.volksnav.com/fundamental> www.volksnav.com/fundamental

 <http://www.volksnav.com/UNGIWG10> www.volksnav.com/UNGIWG10

The gigantic market gap was:

- a simple answer to the simple question "where?"

e. g. where is Bamenda? Where is Queen rd.? Where is 50829? Where is room
666?

For example, touristic points in Manaus/Brazil are addressed with this
Munich Orientation Convention, see <http://www.ManausOnline.com>
www.ManausOnline.com and click Turismo / Pontos Turisticos. Just using the
imagination power and knowing instructions it is possible to deduce HERE
where these points THERE are. This is not a "nice to have" but a quantum
jump, a better life quality which also makes smarter and helps to reduce the
signage, road accidents and panic in buildings.

Searching for "turismo" in <http://www.volksnav.de/seach>
www.volksnav.de/seach within a specified area, the same attractions
described on ManausOnline will be listed.

Concerning cartography, this innovation can be realized by a simple change
of the location grid: from a square to a quasipolar one, see
<http://www.volksnav.de/MagicGrid> www.volksnav.de/MagicGrid and
<http://www.AddisMap.com> www.AddisMap.com .

This convention will also be helpful indoor, see
<http://www.volksnav.com/DeutschesMuseum> www.volksnav.com/DeutschesMuseum

According to <http://www.watchrose.com> www.watchrose.com , this system
allows to build natural world co-ordinates and international City Codes, in
harmony with the cartography, electronics and to a numbering of road exits,
bridges etc.

All position codes can be converted from geographical co-ordinates.
