Dear colleagues,
at the European Commission - Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Ispra (Italy)
we have just opened a *position for a trainee* to join the team working on
the implementation of the INSPIRE Directive.

In the context of improving the usability of INSPIRE data and facilitating
the integration with other relevant sources, the trainee will explore the
synergies between the INSPIRE and the OpenStreetMap (OSM) data ecosystems.
More specifically, the trainee will contribute to the development of an OSM
encoding for INSPIRE data through the definition of transformation rules
resulting from the analysis of data models. These rules will be applied in
practice to transform existing INSPIRE data sets and integrate them with
OSM data sets. The trainee will also assess the pros and cons of the
transformation, technical and organisational barriers and challenges
encountered, as well as usability issues solved. The work is expected to
produce scientific outputs such as research papers and/or oral
presentations at conferences/workshops.

Candidates shall have a Masters/PhD degree, or be enrolled in a PhD degree
or in the final year of a Masters degree in Geoinformation Science,
Geomatics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
