Dear Colleagues,

I will greatly appreciate any help on any information and examples of UK Universities working with local organisations on food poverty alleviation initiatives in their local communities.

I came across The York Food Justice Alliance (YFJA) which is a cross-sector group working in York to better understand and tackle food poverty. It is a good example of a city-wide collaboration around food insecurity with multiple stakeholders as part of the York Food Justice Alliance (community food aid and NGOs, local businesses, public sector) https://yorkfoodpoverty.org/

GODAN has invited colleagues from University of York and the York Food Justice Alliance for a webinar and discussions on 15th March, so we can learn more about their work (more details will be sent soon, and all interested are welcome to attend).

I am interested to know more of any other examples of Universities in the UK and globally working closely with local organisations on food poverty alleviation initiatives in their local communities. As there are over 100 universities in the UK, there might be other examples (similar to the work of University of York) that I am not aware of. Please share any examples, good practices and contribute your expertise for our collective mission to end hunger and poverty, both locally and globally.[1]

The pain of hunger is the same for everyone, everywhere. We cannot ignore food poverty issues faced by economically poor families in the UK and globally. We need to find solutions to alleviate food poverty everywhere.

I am grateful to everyone, everywhere working for Zero Hunger Aim.

Best wishes,

Suchith
