[Geo4All] [OSGeo-Discuss] The International Day of Non-Violence

Hi John

I guess you did not see my post on Discuss yesterday where I said to Suchith "I meant no disrespect to you. I applaud your commitment to social justice and inclusion but I don’t think OSGeo Discuss is the right forum for this (that is my opinion, others are welcome to disagree)”

Suchith posted to both the Discuss and Geoforall lists and in my initial reply I replied to all so cross posted to the Geoforall list (which I am not subscribed to), that was a mistake and I recognise that the original post may have been relevant to the content of Geoforall.

My attempt at using humour to make the point that I thought this post was not “on topic” for Discuss, clearly failed for some and I regret that.

I have included Geoforall on this reply because you included Geoforall and I wanted them to see my response posted to Discuss above. I will do my best to not make the mistake of cross-posting a reply in the future.

Best
______
Steven

>>> The International Day of Non-Violence is observed on 2 October, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, leader of the Indian independence movement and pioneer of the philosophy and strategy of non-violence. According to United Nations General Assembly resolution A/RES/61/271 <http://undocs.org/A/RES/61/271> of 15 June 2007, which established the commemoration, the International Day is an occasion to "disseminate the message of non-violence, including through education and public awareness". The resolution reaffirms "the universal relevance of the principle of non-violence" and the desire "to secure a culture of peace, tolerance, understanding and non-violence".
