<p align="center"><font size="4"><strong><font style="line-height:25px" color="#333333">SPECIAL ISSUE CALL FOR PAPERS</font></strong></font></p><p align="center"><font size="4"><strong><font style="line-height:25px" color="#333333"><font color="#608DA0">Theme: Education for Organization, Access, and Use of Geographic Information</font><br></font></strong></font></p>
<p>The peer-reviewed <i>Journal of Map & Geography Libraries (JMGL)</i> is inviting submissions for a special issue on Education for the Organization, Access, and Use of Geographic Information.<br><br>Geographic information (GI) is ubiquitous, persistent and growing rapidly. GI is multidimensional, laden with context, subject to interpretation and biases and frequently uncertain. As with other information formats, those holding cartographic resources and geospatial data both in print and born digital endeavor to make the content findable and useable. Education for organization, access, and use of GI includes (1) the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for information professionals managing GI over its lifecycle; (2) educating users how to find, identify, select, and obtain GI for a variety of purposes; and (3) engagement with educators at K-12 and higher education levels.<br><br>Articles are invited for this special issue of JMGL that report on current research and development efforts that may build on previous work on GI education related to its organization, access, and use.<br></p><p><b>Possible topics include, but are not limited to:</b><br></p><ul><li>Outreach</li><li>K-12 collaborative activities</li><li>Spatial literacy</li><li>Training on geospatial data discovery; GI policy; geospatial metadata creation; or cartographic resource cataloging</li><li>Continuing Education for data provenance; collection management and development</li><li>Other professional development and competencies in libraries and archives</li><li>Tools/tool development which support education and learning for professional development and/or user populations</li><li>Reports, summaries, or reviews of current initiatives in continuing education and/or higher education for GI organization, access, and use topics.<br></li></ul><p><b>Interested authors should send an abstract of less than 500 words to the Guest Editor, Wade Bishop, Ph.D. at <a href="mailto:+wade.bishop@utk.edu" target="_blank">wade.bishop@utk.edu</a> by <u>November 4, 2015</u>.</b><br><br>Final manuscripts are due January 20, 2016 and should be submitted electronically to the journal's ScholarOne Manuscripts site at: <a href="http://tandf.msgfocus.com/c/1vJH91gHIuqTlD4bqRxe3VWO0" target="_blank">https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/wmgl</a></p><p>For more information about the <b><i>Journal of Map & Geography Libraries</i></b>, please visit: <a href="http://tandf.msgfocus.com/c/1vJH9nKPiJPolrGcvJtNR75U9" target="_blank">www.tandfonline.com/WMGL</a><br></p>
