Please spread the word to all of your conservation minded friends, particularly those who think geographically! See below for details! Also, see the attached fliers that you can send around.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Also, you may enjoy this. We have asked that everyone identify the geographies (you know, with actual polygons!) over which various conservation, restoration or sustainability strategies must be deployed in order for us to meet out collective societal goals by 2050. In his new book Half-Earth (<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Half-Earth-Our-Planets-Fight-Life/dp/1631490826" class="">https://www.amazon.com/Half-Earth-Our-Planets-Fight-Life/dp/1631490826</a>), E.O. Wilson says that we must dedicate half of the surface of the Earth to nature if our planet is to avoid the mass extinction that is underway. Is he correct? You be the judge. But, for sure, only 15% of the Earth’s land is formally protected, and only 2.8% of the ocean by surface area (see the UNEP/IUCN World Database on Protected Areas).</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Articulate the geographies that you think need to be conserved, restored, or otherwise made sustainable. <b class="">Do it with geographic data.</b> And tweet it to @geography2050, and email the data to <a href="mailto:info@geography2050.org" class="">info@geography2050.org</a>. Make sure to include some text to make your case. Even include citations if you want to give your argument some rigor.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">The GeoForAll community spans the globe, and you and your colleagues have a lot of local knowledge. And, I know many of you are focused on the environment, conservation, and sustainability. So, please be vocal and share your insights!!! </div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Anyways, we would love your participation in person and through your contribution of data and insights over the WWW.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Thanks!</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Chris</div><div class="">703-981-9373</div><div apple-content-edited="true" class=""><br class=""></div><div apple-content-edited="true" class=""></div></body></html>
