# GeoMoose 3.14 GeoParquet Scope of Work

## Intention

The future goal of the GeoMoose project is to move to a cloud-native architecture that removes the need for users to depend on a traditional WMS/WFS server. @theduckylittle's 2024 experiment with [gm4js](https://github.com/theduckylittle/gm4js/) proved the technique can work in a restrainted user interface design. However, a smooth transition to a new architecture should happen using an interim version that supports both the current GeoMoose 3.x data sources and include cloud-native support for GeoParquet.

## Implementation Details

1. Host a version of the demonstration parcel dataset in GeoParquet format on GitHub.
2. Publish the instructions for how the conversion from the parcel shapefile was performed. This should appear as a How To in the documentation repository.
3. Port the geoparquet worker process from the gm4js repository to GeoMoose3.
4. Add support for vector data-sources to query and render the geoparquet sources.

## Timeline

Work will begin following approval of the scope of work and will conclude by end of March 2026.

## Cost

This scope of work is being proposed at a flat rate of $1,600.
