Jay,

It sounds like you might have two items here 1) moving your [working]
application to a laptop, 2) migrating between 1.2 and 1.4. I have done both.

What I have been doing to copy Geomoose from my development computer to our
website is a) click on \ms4w\apache-uninstall.bat to turn off the webserver
(on both machines) b) change the file name of the ms4w directory on the
destination computer, or alternatively delete the ms4w directory. c) click
apache-install.bat on both machines.

If you are having trouble there may be several causes including but not
limited to: The laptop might not have internet connection to connect to
certain files (we have a field work laptop that we use our own image instead
of the LMIC service) If one machine has IIS and the other uses apache look
at
http://www.geomoose.org:88/moose/documentation/installation/geomoose-installa
tion-instructions-for-ms4w-users/ so you can install geomoose on both
machines. If you are using IIS you might have to check some of the virtual
directories to make sure they are the same between both machines.

I see several people still using moose 1.2. As far as using 1.2 or
1.4 it really is up to you. I had to upgrade because 1.2 did not print maps
correctly when different shapefiles are in different projections. In the
background 1.4 changed the /webdocs folder to /htdocs, the "zoom to"
information is now in the .js file as opposed to the .xml file, and printing
uses php instead of python.

I would highly recommend thinking of 1.6 when it comes out.
Currently 1.4 and previous versions only work well under FF2, and IE 7.
Hopefully 1.6 will fix some bugs to allow FF3, and Safari to work better.

P.S. if anyone else has anything to add, let me know.

I just installed the 1.4 version and Map Server on my laptop and it has
different files and folders than the one installed on my desk top....so
I assume that I am not running v1.4 on my desktop.

Think 1.4 was released a couple months ago...so their lies my problem.

Never saw these before:

*         Geomoose.html

*         Geomoose_configuration.js

*         GeoMoose_uncompiled.html

How do I know what version I have installed? What was the release
before 1.4? was it 1.2?

Not going to bother until version 1.6 releases...otherwise I have to
recode everything twice....

If 1.4 was just released and 1.6 is on its way...do I bother doing
anything until the next release...I just cant afford the time to keep
re-writing my code....

Thanks for all you help guys....

Thoughts?

Cant I just install MapServer then copy and paste all my GeoMoose files
to the laptop from my desktop? (The entire GeoMoose folder)

I have a laptop that I want to copy a working version of GeoMoose to.

I downloaded Map Server and downloaded GeoMoose 1.4

Installed both and tested to see the demos.

I then proceeded to copy my code and pages over.

I copied the folder that houses my layers, .map files etc to the laptop
(overwriting existing files)

I also copied everything from the Webdocs folder to the laptop
(overwriting existing files)

Dont know what went wrong....

I see my application in the index.html page

When I click it.. it brings up the page but stops short of showing the
tools in the tool bar and any layers.

If I install MapServer and GeoMoose and then just copy over them
shouldn't this work?

Thanks

Jay
