Please keep the messages in the user list by including geomoose-users at lists.osgeo.org<mailto:geomoose-users at lists.osgeo.org>

If you are just starting off I would recommend using only shapefiles and MapServer.  I would not worry about GeoServer or PostGIS until you have a better understanding of GeoMOOSE and MapServer.  I would try working with the demo data first before trying to add your own data.
