Have at look at the response from mapserver by using the debugger in 
your browser.  Use the network tab in the debugger to show the request 
made by Geomoose and the response by mapserver.  Typically if there is a 
problem in the mapfile, mapserver will send an error message instead of 
the expected graphic.  That's why there is a pink image displayed by 
Geomoose (actually the OpenLayers tool kit used by Geomoose).
