This is one of the most comprehensive GeoMoose installations that I know about. Registration is required, but I believe it is open to all. December 7, 2016 from 1:00-2:30pm (eastern time) Ruth Betcher from Minnesota DOT (MnDOT) will discuss their use of an internal Interactive GIS mapping tool called Georilla, which is based on open source technology with the underlying code from Geomoose. This webinar will highlight how Georilla helps MnDOT share its spatial data within the organization. The Georilla presentation will demonstrate how data can be found inside of the tool and how to access other supporting data like route information, schematics, layouts and plan sets. Georilla is a unified location for both GIS and non-GIS professionals to find roadway details from a spatial webmap. Message-ID: <36CA828A36E29F45B7CF0A1766E5DFA37C26CBDB@swmail01.r8nssis.local> Hello, I would like to know if it is possible to create a soil clipping tool in GeoMOOSE, and if so if there is anyone that might be willing to help out in creating this application. I do not know the exact requirements yet, but it will be something such as this: * A user creates a polygon area of interest. As they are drawing the polygon it would be best if they could see the distances and bearings of each side of the polygon which is similar to the "measure with bearings extension." It may even be better if they could type in the distances and bearings for each edge of the polygon -ie a simple COGO - but that might be too complex. * Once the polygon is submitted to GeoMOOSE (ie someone presses Go!) then GeoMOOSE will create a report that will display the total parcel acreage, the acreage of a parcel within the area of interest, and the total acreage of each soil type within the parcel. * Other ideas that might be interesting include: o A map report that includes the selection area, parcels, and possibly a list of the results on the second page. * I will not be doing anything until GeoMOOSE 3 is available. Years ago we made an in-house tool that worked like this using Featureserver [1] maybe that would still be helpful? Our application didn't include the COGO aspect, but that is an interesting addition. Obviously this is a very handy idea for a tool (not at all specific to soils). Our use case was planning for Marine Reserves, and the reports we created were pulling data from a large number of data sets related to physical environment, biological resources, and human uses (over 30 if I recall). We built all our queries into a single template because we were the only users, but I imagine that if something like this were to be used n Geomoose, you would have to be more generic and provide a way for the user to concatenate different templates for different data sets together into a single report. Mark, I would second TC’s ideas about using a Database to query from. It’s far easier to implement reporting in this way for any type of report, both tabular and map based. Is the end result only to calculate those parcels completely withint the selection area polygon, or can you simply select the polygons from the parcel dataset and build a separate report for each. This all seems completey doable by the way, just trying to get a handle on the complexity of implementing it. bobb On Dec 8, 2016, at 12:59 PM, Mark Volz > wrote: Bobb, The soils data will effectively be static. I do not know the exact requirements yet, but it will be something such as this: • A user creates a polygon area of interest. As they are drawing the polygon it would be best if they could see the distances and bearings of each side of the polygon which is similar to the “measure with bearings extension.” It may even be better if they could type in the distances and bearings for each edge of the polygon –ie a simple COGO – but that might be too complex. • Once the polygon is submitted to GeoMOOSE (ie someone presses Go!) then GeoMOOSE will create a report that will display the total parcel acreage, the acreage of a parcel within the area of interest, and the total acreage of each soil type within the parcel. • Other ideas that might be interesting include: o A map report that includes the selection area, parcels, and possibly a list of the results on the second page. • I will not be doing anything until GeoMOOSE 3 is available. I know GeoMoose does some trickery to get semi-accurate measurements in the awfulness that is the web-merc (3857) projection. It looks like MapServer is using the web-merc coordinates directly as "meters" to generate the scalebar. I am not sure if anything can be done to resolve this short of using an appropriate local projection (and thus sacrificing compatibility with the web-merc based tile sets). For some, this may not be relevant or that complicated, however, I'm hoping it may help someone in our community. First, sign up for your own free API key: https://platform.digitalglobe.com/maps-api/#plans. The free api gives you 20,000 views of the imagery. Second, incorporate the following map sources into your mapbook.xml file: http://api.tiles.mapbox.com/v4/digitalglobe.nal0g75k/${z}/${x}/${y}.png?access_token=YOUR API KEY http://api.tiles.mapbox.com/v4/digitalglobe.nal0mpda/${z}/${x}/${y}.png?access_token=YOUR API KEY In the above examples replace 'YOUR API KEY' with the actual key code. Third, add these to the section in the mapbook.xml file: In these examples, I'm showing both the recent imagery and recent imagery with streets layers. You can also add a terrain map and streetmap vectors too. Cheers, Kevin -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
