Looking at this post (<a
href="http://forum.jquery.com/topic/transparent-png-shows-black-edges-in-ie8">http://forum.jquery.com/topic/transparent-png-shows-black-edges-in-ie8</a>),
it implies the problem can be fixed via CSS:<br>
<br>
.item img {<br>
background: transparent;<br>
-ms-filter:
"progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.gradient(startColorstr=#00FFFFFF,endColorstr=#00FFFFFF)";
/* IE8 */<br>
filter:
progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.gradient(startColorstr=#00FFFFFF,endColorstr=#00FFFFFF);
/* IE6 & 7 */ <br>
zoom: 1;<br>
}<br>
<br>
I don't know enough about CSS (or GeoMOOSE's use of CSS for the map
image) to test it. What do you think?<br>

Check your "opacity" setting for the WMS <map-source> in
your map book and set it to 100 (or remove it). As Michael points
out, IE has problems using both Alpha (a band in the image) and
transparency (a setting in the browser) for a PNG image.<br>
