It appears that it was an ArcGIS Rest service from the Met Council.
Note: this has nothing to do with beta6 as the same problem now appears in alpha3, so I expect there was a recent change to the service.
Forwarding this to the GeoMoose list, since I don't recall where the "Metro Base Maps" are being sourced from. Are they in the distribution of GeoMoose(2.4) or are they referenced from outside (as a WMS perhaps?).

This apparently broke in a recent version of the LiveDVD for some reason. Just trying to clear up where the sourcing of the layer as a first step towards fixing.
Subject: Geomoose issue in OSGeo-Live 6.0 recent betas

Hi Bob,

Can you please take a look at this issue here?
https://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo/ticket/968

This issue started to happen after beta3, and would be nice to be fixed since we are close to RC for the live dvd. Perhaps it has to do with an external WMS not working anymore? Or is Geomoose working with services from the disk?

To test this you will need beta6:
http://aiolos.survey.ntua.gr/gisvm/6.0/osgeo-live-vm-6.0beta6.7z
or
http://aiolos.survey.ntua.gr/gisvm/6.0/osgeo-live-mini-6.0beta6.iso

Thanks,
