<p dir="ltr">We actually had (still have?) that model.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Our original mailing labels tools were split out to allow for a lot more flexibility but got simplified for the parcels demo.</p>
<p dir="ltr">We had draw and select tools that would generate a drawing. Then we had buffer (I can't remember if we had union/intersect and friends as well) that would take a drawing and generate a drawing. Then services that needed a spatial input (like mailing labels) then just asked which drawing do you want to use.</p>

The workflow in OpenWebGIS is fairly straightforward:<br>
1. User clicks button/menu item to invoke service<br>
2. App displays dialog of options for service (including new layer name)<br>
3. App invokes service on server with parameters<br>
4. Service sends image (or vectors?)<br>
5. App creates new layer and displays results<br>

I think Geomoose has most of this in place (dunno about the "creates new layer" and delete layer functions), although currently the standard is to use a tab instead of a dialog.<br>

The Save/Load Project has some interesting implications (save XML on the server and cookie on the client?) for the service layers created by the user.<br>

I’ve been wondering lately about a possible tighter integration with other other Open toolsets in general. Maybe even packaging up something as a productivity stack with corresponding services, etc. I’m unsure about whether this is a GeoMOOSE community thing or should be left to some other third party to move it into existence. There seems to be other similar efforts already underway as well.<br>

This idea would move things forward though, like offline use on a portable in the field, as well as possibly a branch for phone/tablets.<br>
