[GeoNode-users] GeoNode-GeoExplorer advice

Hi list,

I'm looking for some advice on how to add new functionalities to GeoNode's GeoExplorer plugin. Generally speaking GeoNode's architecture fits my requirements but I would like to add new features to the GeoExplorer (custom buttons and OL controls basically) 

Do I have to install GeoNode in development mode or something like that to edit the GeoExplorer?  What would you recommend?

Any help is much appreciated.
