Hi Daniel,
as written how we work is install from apt and make sure only security upgrades are done:
grep security /etc/apt/sources.list > /tmp/security.list
sudo apt-get upgrade -oDir::Etc::Sourcelist=/tmp/security.list -s
Your system will stay secure and you reduce the risk to brake something through
tomcat, postgresql or whatever upgrade. In any case if it´s a VM no upgrade without
a snapshot. And cloning from time to time is advisable.
