Sorry for the long delay.
I reported this problem to our brand new Trac along with proposing solution:

http://trac.osgeo.org/geos/ticket/162

I didn't applied this fix to SVN as I'd like to ask you for test.
I don't have Leo installed yet.
Could you replace the line 197 with new line proposed in the ticket,
and see if it compiles for you?

We've migrated to OSGeo Trac:

http://trac.osgeo.org/geos/

You can use the same credentials that you use for GDAL and other OSGeo
projects.
