Just one additional note: while the Stereographic projection looks complex with lot of cases (Equatorial, Oblique, Polar, North pole, South Pole, Variant A, Variant B...), you can just use the "Stereographic" projection with the latitude of interest; the library should select an appropriate case automatically.
