I plan to make a SIS 0.5 release soon after we completed the upgrade
of metadata classes (not yet the XML) from ISO 19115:2003 to
19115:2014. I hope to make this release in October since the
metadata upgrade is close to completion. This release will not yet
include the full referencing module.

An Apache SIS 0.6 release would contain the remaining of the
referencing module, hopefully in the first quarter of 2015. I'm late
on this plan since I was hopping to complete this migration this
summer.

Yes, DefaultCoordinateOperationFactory is planed for SIS
0.6. I agree that depending on SIS only when it provides sufficient
functionality would be better.
