ps.map problem

We are experiencing a problem with ps.map. We have an application where in
certain circumstances we want to print a map containing only vector and
point objects, and we want to use a mask for the map. We do create the
GRASS raster mask, but if I am understanding the code correctly,
ps.map will not allow you to use a raster mask unless you specify a raster
map to be masked. Apparently, ps.map creates a temporary mask file based
on the GRASS mask, but this only happens if a raster map has been
specified. Otherwise, trying to apply a raster mask to non-raster
objects in the ps.map script results in an error with the following message:

"Car't open temporary PostScript mask file."

Is this a bug in ps.map or am i missing something? Meanwhile, can anyone
suggest a workaround?

Thanks
