[GRASS5] java GRASS???

ahoy all,
  just a quick question.. more a curiosity... im starting to do some
development work with GRASS, prob XDRIVER stuff, and i was just
wondering if there is talk of or anything started with a java
implementation of GRASS.  it would take care alot of the problems that i
have seen discussed on this list in more short time here.. loadable
modules (just java classes), makes alot of the driver stuff
disappear...  of course, java3d isnt really avaialable everywhere the
java vm is.. anyway, just wondering... thanks in advance, wayne
