Hello,

Try starting NVIZ in "quck start" mode with:

nviz -q

With this switch no data will be loaded and nviz will simply start. Data
can be loaded from the menu after the viewer is open.

You should also make sure that the Current GRASS region is set to the
raster you are loading. If the raster is outside the Current GRASS
region it can cause problems.
