Subject: m.in.e00 option=analyse fails with single-precision line and area coverages

Platform: GNU/Linux/i386
grass obtained from: Trento Italy site
grass binary for platform: Compiled from Sources
GRASS Version: 5.0.0 (August 2002)

Please enter error description here (and your name)

Using option=analyse with m.in.e00 works with double-precision point, line, and area coverages but failes with single-precision line and area coverages (it also works with single-precision poiknt coverages). It does not seem to
matter if E00 file is compressed or uncompressed.

The following error message appears at the GRASS console:

  ERROR: End of file unexpected

The logfile reports the input file was successfully openned and the name of the output file found, then ends with the following ine:

  ARC 2.

The logfile does *not* report the offset of the ARC section.

The same single-precision coverages appear to import properly using option=all or option=vector. In these cases, the logfile reports the offset for the ARC section (along with much additional information).

Grass 5.0.0 compiled under Debian 3.0, all configure options enabled except GLw. Report based on limited testing with about 6 different single-precision EOO coverages. The smallest gzipped binary file I have which produces this problem is about 750 KB long. If you want the file but the size is too large, I can try removing some of the arcs from the ARC section in the ASCII E00 version and see if I can still reproduce the problem with a smaller file.

Hope this helps.
