Yeah, I'm still here...on the fringes. I will try to get around to
sending you my code if you still want it. I am not proceeding with
that work anymore, since it didn't look like a promising avenue even
after my optimizations. I became convinced that the benefits would be
marginal, and other projects were demanding my attention.

Seems like a reasonable decision to me now.
