Done. Was a single line code addition :-)
Please test.

Example:

v.db.select roads col=label,cat
label|cat
no data|0
interstate|1
primary highway, hard surface|2
secondary highway, hard surface|3
light-duty road, improved surface|4
unimproved road|5
