[GRASS5] working with img files in grass

Hi, i have been trying to view some img files, but i got some problems.

I can view some of them (small images) in Debian. 
But i can´t view the img files with Fedora Core 3.

Is there anyway to solve theses problems ?
Does someone knows the steps to compile Grass in Slackware ?

I really appreciate your help.
