 Vector Lines and 3D Polygons
?

Surfaces is sort of reserved for raster maps in NVIZ.

You mean that "soils" in Spearfish is rendered as boundaris
only?

I don't think so because faces are usually 3D (so v.drape?).
But I am not sure.
