I also tried cmd.exe:

wine $HOME/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/cmd.exe
D:\> cd .wine\drive_c\OSGeo4W\bin

Access denied

Invalid name

File not found

D:\.wine\drive_c\OSGeo4W\bin>

Not sure why this fails.
