 if it is only for 32bit Vista, that will go away soon.

 I'm not sure if this is relevant at run time or only at build time, but
 fwiw the MSys devs seem completely uninterested in fixing spaces in
 pathnames issues. They've thrown that class of bugs in the "too hard,
 won't even try" pile. I've had a patch in their tracker for 6 months with
 no action and 2 of 3 commenting devs recommending "wontfix".
