[GRASS-dev] why doesn't r.in.wms work with NCAR WMS server

I tested r.in.wms with the example NASA server and it works.
I tested the NCAR WMS server with a get capabilities request in my browser and it works.

But when I try r.in.wms with the NCAR server it fails.

Here is the address: http://tds.gisclimatechange.ucar.edu/thredds/wms/anomalies/downscaled/seasonal/ppt_SRESB1_near_seasonal_down_anomaly.nc]

When I just try to list data layers and exit I get an error saying the get capabilities request has failed. This uses WMS version 1.3.0 if that makes any difference. I have tried specifying that version to no avail.

I haven't used r.in.wms and so could be doing something wrong. Any suggestions would be helpful.
