 So no issue here... (except for the fact that the PROJ4 4.7.1 release is
 broken, so
 either downgrade or upgrade).

 This looks like unrelated to this bug (to me). And  I don't think that
 this
 behaviour can be changed, how should PROJ4/GRASS GIS know from the literal
 description (rather than formal EPSG code) which datums to suggest? See
 for
 example the list of projections:
 http://spatialreference.org/ref/?search=UTM+zone+29N

 All come with different ellipsoids, datums and so on...
