[GRASS-dev] r.import: possible to use r.external instead of r.in.gdal during reprojection?

Hi,

Is there any particular reason that r.import uses r.in.gdal to load data to temporary region when reprojecting, and not r.external:

Would it be possible to use r.extenal?
