I'm using Windows 10, 64-bit. I used the stand-alone installer for GRASS 7.8, because I was having trouble with the OSGeo4W package. I got 7.8 because it was the newest stable version. I downloaded 7.8.2, again since it was the newest version. </div>

I'll try deleting the grass directory. In the meantime, if there is any other advice to be offered, please send it my way! I really appreciate all this. </div>

Also a precise version of GRASS GIS (7.8.1 or 7.8.2).<br>
There where some start-up related issues fixed in 7.8.2 (see 1, 2 & 3).<br>

One thing you can try out is to completely delete ~/.grass7 directory.<br>
