PC-GRASS

# I'm not interested in a PC running some kind of unix but rather a GRASS

This would be a HUGE effort.  GRASS relies heavily on multi-tasking, pipes,
UNIX utilities, virtual memory, and other UNIXisms.  A port of GRASS to
DOS back in 2.0 was attempted with much pain and suffering.  The group that
did this port would not want to encourage anybody to try it again.

Windows-NT and Solaris 2.0 offer some significant hope of DOS/UNIX
environments on PCs over the course of the next year.   We will be
evaluating GRASS in the Windows/NT environment as soon as we can.
Perhaps someone out there wants to beat us to this evaluation?
