Perimeter?

r.mapcalc can produce the perimeters and retain the original categories
form the clumps. Don't use r.grow - since it grows into the next clump.
Get the r.mapcalc paper from moon.cecer.army.mil to use how to "grow"
regions and it will give you an idea how you might "shrink" the clumps
instead. The subtracts the maps and your will have perimeter maps.
r.stats will then give cell counts from which you can extract perimeters.
