but the "continue;" is in an "if" statement not a loop...the interpolation
routines are outside this "if" statement so doesn't the continue just
jump out of the if and do the interpolation?  I'm not myself if this is
a serious question, because I have used s.surf.idw and it works...unless
there are actually values under the mask...I have never checked...
